November Favourites

Dear November,

Where’d you go?

As I sit here writing this, the sky is slowing turning black and all I can think about is the huge math test I have on Monday.

So that’s the perfect excuse to tell you all about my favourite things from this month right?

I know, I know. I haven’t posted one of these since April. I think. Don’t quote me on that.

Please forgive me, and lets talk about awesome vegan products, okay?

Clay Masks

I’ve been loving this clay mask. You can purchase a 2lb tub of it off of iHerb or Amazon for about $10! It’s just pure Calcium Bentonite clay and it works wonders. Just mix it with water (it also says apple cider vinegar, but I do not recommend doing that at all) and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. I am wearing it write now as I type this! I sometimes pour about a 1/2 cup in a nice hot bath and it’s pure bliss.

Rose Hip Oil

This stuff is pretty nifty. A lot of people stray away from putting oil on their face in worry of their skin breaking out. While it’s true that some oils can clog your pores, if your skin is too dry, that’s big no-no. When we strip the natural oils from our face, our skin produces excess oil in order to compensate for the dryness.

Rose hip oil is very gentle on the face and is suitable aging, fine lines, and yes–even acne. I purchased this from Amazon for about $13 (it’s a huge bottle). I use it to remove my makeup, and I put a very thin layer on my cheeks, forehead and around my mouth before I go to bed.

Konjac Sponge

I initially heard sponges about these from Angi of Happy Healthy Vegan on YouTube. They come in all different shapes and sizes and are 100% natural, cruelty-free and vegan–just how we like it ova here. I purchased the one with activated charcoal and it does a wonderful job at exfoliating.

Like those little pets that you would buy from the dollar store when you were little, just add water! It puffs up and helps make your skin nice and smooth and eliminate bacteria.

Bath and Body:

Avalon Organics Rosemary Shampoo and Curelle Body Wash

I’ve been blessed with sensitive skin and finicky hair so these two beauties right here are a god send. This shampoo helps add natural volume to my hair, without drying it out or making it frizzy. Plus, it smells like rosemary which satisfies my Italian roots (pun intended). The body wash is plain jane, doesn’t have a scent, but it leaves my skin clean and soft, and not the slightest bit dry, even if I don’t use lotion!

100% Pure Lipstick in Foxglove

Oh, 100% Pure, how I do love thee. You will often find me scrolling through their website, just aimlessly searching through the abyss that is every vegan girls dream. This lipstick is incredible. I have never owned a lipstick that is more hydrating. It contains pomegranate oil and is of course, pigmented with fruit and contains zero nasties. Someone needs to ban me from the site, because I could go crazy.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal

Holy mother of glitter. I have heard so many people talking about this highlighter and since I conveniently had a Sephora gift card, I took the plunge. Now I own an expensive highlighter, that makes me look like a goddess. Thanks Sephora, much appreciated.

Emani Soy Mascara

I have a blog post all about my favourite beauty products and I wish I would have tried this mascara sooner, because it knocks the Urban Decay one I had used so faithfully, straight out of the ball park into SPACE. Who knew that plants could lengthen and curl so well? 😉 It’s about $20, so more than your typical drugstore mascara, but cheaper than anything you would find at Sephora. I have tried a few NYX ones (which are cruelty free) but had no luck. The one from 100% Pure is apparently no good from what i’ve heard, and is also more expensive.

Here is an un-edited photo of me wearing both the lipstick, highlighter and mascara. That highlight is so bright, it could probably light up an entire room!

Raw Vegan Energy Bars

Sadly, I only have one food favourite. How that happened is beyond me. The day I fell in love was when these met my mouth. I have been meaning to post the recipe, but I always seem to find something more important to talk about. “But Alexa, what could be more important than raw vegan energy bars that taste like heavenly, rich brownies???” I hear you. The recipe will be up soon I promise, but for now, just stare and salivate.

Macbook Fruit Decals

As the avid fruit eater I am, when I saw this, there was no way I could not buy it. My ol’ pal Amazon, you always have the goods. With these stickers, I feel complete. Purchase them here for yourself, join the cult. The fruit cult, that is.

I have discovered so much new music on Soundcloud. The majority of the music you would buy on iTunes, you can usually find on Soundcloud for free. I prefer it much more than Spotify and I have found so many new artists and also, a new love for podcasts! Check out my page if you want to see what I listen to: @alexanina

That’s all for now! Feel free to share anything that you have been loving this month down in the comments below!
